Life Update: How 2018 has been going so far

Congratulations! If you’re reading this, you’ve made it half way through the year of 2018. Feels great, huh? Now think back to the beginning of the year, when we all made resolutions. Do you still remember yours? Have you worked on them? My resolutions were to try something new every month and to travel more. Now that June is over, it’s time to check how that has worked out so far.

Before I start, though, I want to point out that this post is not supposed to be solely about me. I’m also curious about your resolutions and your story! So make sure to drop a comment or leave me a message. Looking forward to hearing from you!

January: Visiting the Hollywood Sign

2018 started out amazingly well. I spent Christmas and New Years in California. So on the very first day of this year, I watched the sun set over the city. The Hollywood Sign simply looked amazing when it was tinted in shades of orange and red. It was a pretty nice way to kick off January and I can’t wait to go back to this happy place of mine.

February: Enjoying winter in Austria and staying sugarfree

Whenever I return home from a journey, I tend to be overwhelmed by wanderlust and all I want to do is leave again and discover a new place. After Los Angeles, however, it was different. I still miss the city but I remember feeling some kind of inner peace after I returned home. So January and February I pretty much spent most of the time outside, enjoying nature. There was so much snow which made Austria look like a winter wonderland.

Besides this, I took part in an experiment and didn’t consume any sugar for more or less 40 days. This was an eye-opening experience. I never thought I could go without candy for that long. I’ve been living a way healthier lifestyle ever since.

March: Spending a night in Grado and going to Ljubljana

So in January and February, everything went smoothly. In March, however, I felt like I was trapped in every day life. A dear friend and I decided that we need a little break so we spontaneously spent the weekend in Grado, Italy. What a great time we had! It was exactly what we needed.

In the same month, I went to a city I had never been too, even though I only live about two hours away from it: Ljubljana in Slovenia. It was absolutely lovely! I’ll upload a post about that daytrip soon so stay tuned!

April: Hiking at Rilke Trail, cooking pizza and going to Venice

Yet another place I had never been to was Rilke Trail in Italy. That changed in April. I was stunned by the view and couldn’t put down my camera during that one hour hike.

Besides this, after I returned from my weekend trip to Grado in March, I was constantly craving pizza. So in April, I decided to cook one all by myself. Turns out it isn’t even that hard to do so. Check out my Instagram account to see the result.

And at the end of April, I finally got the chance to reunite with a friend whom I had met in Los Angeles. I traveled all the way to Venice to meet him. That actually sounds more badass than it is because I’m living pretty close by. Anyway, we had a blast.

May: Going on a cruise and flying to Paris

My favorite month of the year so far, though, was May. I got to go on my first cruise ever, which I was incredibly excited about. The ship took me to Marseille and Barcelona, which I both enjoyed.

The week after I got back, I flew right to Paris to reunite with yet another friend from the States. I had tons of Croissants and Crepes and the Eiffel Tower was pretty impressive.

June: Visiting Pyramidenkogel and Florence

Finally, in June, I visited my home town’s most famous sight: Pyramidenkogel. It’s a tower located on a mountain. If you go to the top, you get the most amazing view ever. I know, it’s a shame that I had never been there before. I had really been missing out!

Plus: I got to spend a week in Florence, where I took part in a summer school. One of my resolutions which I haven’t mentioned earlier was that I wanted to spend my birthday abroad. Check!

2018 has been pretty good so far and there are many more exciting trips to follow. Now it’s your turn! How have you been? Leave a comment or drop me a message!
