Life Update: My upcoming Road Trip

Hello, dear reader! So you’re interested in a life update? I’m flattered! Or did you click on this link by accident? Well now that you’re already here, why don’t you stay? In this post, I’ll share some news about my upcoming road trip along the US-West Coast. And you’re more than welcome to give me a little update about your life too. Because I really care for you.

A dream coming true

I probably couldn’t have picked a cheesier subtitle. But it’s true! I’ve always wanted to go on a road trip along the West Coast. At the end of August, this dream will finally come true. Starting in Vancouver, Canada, my sister, her boyfriend, another friend and I will drive all the way down to Los Angeles. You can probably guess where we’ll stop: Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Las Vegas, etc. An of course we’re going to cruise down Highway One! The fact that the route is pretty mainstream doesn’t make it any less exciting for me.

Besides this, we’ve only done some rough planning. Why? Because we’re millennials, we’re spontaneous and we believe in serendipity. So whenever we like a place, we’ll stop.

Then again, there are some stops we’re pretty clear about. I want to visit some friends on certain days and we’ve booked tickets for Alcatraz and a show in Vegas.

A true challenge

Under the bottom line, I’m not (yet) necessarily prepared for that trip. One thing that kinda bugs me is that I definitely have to start packing soon. Usually, I travel lightly and only bring the most important stuff to journeys. This time, however, I have to pack a little bit more than that because… have I mentioned that I won’t return home until Christmas? After the road trip, I’ll stay in Los Angeles for a couple of weeks and then I’ll fly to DC where I’ll be for two months.

when you’re more or less on the road for four months, you have to choose wisely regarding what to bring and what to leave at home. What’s for sure is that I’ll bring my camera and my DJI. Not only am I going to take tons of pictures. I also want to vlog about that journey.

Random piece of advice: If you plan to travel somewhere, don’t forget to bring your pajamas. I forgot them four times already and it’s probably going to happen again eventually.

Have you ever been on a road trip along the West Coast? Do you have any recommendations? Leave a comment or drop me a message!

  2. Wow! I have been living in the US for three years now, but still have to see those parts of the country! (Am in Florida.)

I think one of my biggest challenges would be lugging all of my technical equipment around. At least you can now find free Wifi at so many places.

    Stay safe, and enjoy!

    1. I think if it wasn’t for free wifi, I would have gotten lost numerous times during my previous trips haha!
Thank you so much. I’m really excited.

      Love,
      Claudia

  3. Highway 1 is unforgettable. The redwoods should be top of the list of things you see, if you haven’t pass Northern California yet.

    1. Oh yes! I definitely want to see the redwoods. So far I’ve only been to LA. So there’s plenty to explore for me in Cali. ๐Ÿ˜€
